Honda Integra Type R. It doesn't cost to imagine your return

Anonim

When we write about the Honda Integra Type R DC2 almost five years ago, we ended the text with the phrase “Don't give up Honda, we wait for another one!”. There was someone who didn't want to wait any longer, as the images of this American designer, named Jordan Rubinstein-Towler, demonstrate.

Yes, there was a successor to DC2, the DC5, but its commercialization was limited to fewer markets and it didn't even reach Portugal. Regardless, production of this compact coupé ceased in the (far off) year of 2006.

Would there be room for a new Integra Type R at Honda? We think so… A second generation Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ is just around the corner, why not a rival on the part of Honda, even though it's all ahead? Even to get rid of the SUV and crossover overdose we've had.

Honda Integra Type R

A more focused and light creature, with fewer compromises than the Civic Type R, although, speculating a little, it was necessary to give in to the presence of a turbocharged engine, as happened with the hot hatch.

Jordan Rubinstein-Towler's design exercise, likely a reaction to the still-recent announcement of the end of the Honda Civic Coupé in the US, reveals a coupé with futuristic, stylized lines but without decorative excess. By the way, “kudos” to the designer for keeping the body so “clean”, even considering it's the hardcore version of his Integra.

This is because the designer did not stop to imagine what a Honda Integra Type R would be for the next few years, but went further, and evolved his ideas taking into account possible industrial conditions, giving us a more realistic version of how the coupé in its “normal” versions.

Although not as flashy as the Type R, the “normal” Integra of his authorship also holds clean, dynamic and even elegant lines.
