Little to go. The 2021 Dakar starts on January 3, in Saudi Arabia, and Toyota Gazoo Racing didn't want to waste time. The Japanese brand has just presented its renewed "desert warrior": the Hilux V8 Gazoo Racing.

Toyota Gazoo Racing will line up with four teams in Dakar 2021. Each one driving the latest version of the Toyota Hilux racing debut in 2018.

As in previous years, the Toyota Hilux V8 Gazoo Racing will be powered by an atmospheric 5.0 l V8 engine of Lexus origin, independent suspension on two axles and four-wheel drive.

Therefore, the news for 2021 are mainly evolutions of some components. On an aesthetic level, the Toyota Hilux V8 Gazoo Racing 2021 took over the design of its production sister, the suspensions were updated, the chassis received minor improvements and the engine was overhauled. Changes that, above all, aim to increase the competitiveness and reliability of the Japanese pick-up truck.

As expected, the Toyota Gazoo Racing armada will once again be led by the winners of the Dakar 2019: Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel. Giniel de Villiers and Alex Haro, winners of the 2019 Morocco Rally, also hope to achieve a good result.

The remaining Toyota Hilux V8 Gazoo Racing are handed over to Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings, Shameer Variawa and Dennis Murphy, thus completing the Toyota armada.
