A team of researchers from the University of Porto is working on a system that promises to save many lives. Meet See Through, an augmented reality system that makes vehicles transparent.
It's not every day that someone can congratulate themselves on developing a system that has the potential to save thousands of lives. But a group of researchers from the University of Porto, led by Prof. Michel Paiva Ferreira, you can do it.
It can because it has developed an augmented reality system that allows drivers to “see” through other vehicles. In this way, it becomes possible to anticipate the dangers that were previously hidden from our field of vision and also to calculate more safely routine maneuvers such as overtaking. The system is called See Through
See Through is still under development, but as you can see in the video below, the potential is huge.
