That's how the new TVR Griffith's V8 Ford Cosworth roars

Anonim

TVR's return is delayed, but expectations remain high. The new TVR Griffith , first unveiled in 2017, is visually more timid than the fantastical creatures out of Sir Peter Wheeler's era, but seems to have the right ingredients to be a worthy successor.

First we have the "father" of the McLaren F1, the legendary Gordon Murray, as the person responsible for the conception of the Griffith, with the highlight going to its iStream Carbon base, which consists of a tubular steel structure joined to carbon fiber panels, to ensure high structural rigidity and contained weight — just 1250 kg are advertised.

Second, looking at the already revealed specs, we have something that looks like it came from another era. Two-seater coupe with a powerful naturally aspirated V8 (turbo, what's that?) longitudinally positioned in the front, rear-wheel drive and a… manual gearbox — no automation around here. Today's only concession, apart from safety, is electric power steering.

Third, under the hood appears a legendary association: Ford and Cosworth. The 5.0 l “Coyote” V8 that we can find in the Ford Mustang passed through the experienced hands of Cosworth, promising around 500 hp naturally aspirated, which should guarantee “eye-popping” performances.

And if this V8 is already a listening pleasure in Mustang, the new TVR Griffith seems to roar with even more force, exacerbated by the side exhaust vents. Listen there...

First deliveries in 2019

As announced in 2017, the new TVR Griffith is expected to begin shipping in early 2019, with the first 500 units being part of a special launch edition — Launch Edition — which will come with everything we're entitled to. , including a carbon fiber bodywork (the bodywork may appear to come with other materials to ensure a more affordable price).
