In the US, the sales report published by the FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) for the last quarter (July-September) revealed a surprise: two were sold Dodge Viper new.

Surprise because the production of the North American sports car ended three years ago, in 2017! The last unit off the production line was even auctioned off along with the last unit of the Demon, for a million dollars.

But it wasn't just this year that the Dodge Viper appeared on the sales charts after production ended. In 2018, 19 units of the coupé were sold and in 2019, five units were sold. How is it explained?

Well, either these units were unlucky enough not to be able to find a buyer after all this time, or else it was the outlets themselves that purposefully kept them waiting for the Viper to appreciate in value in the market.

At the moment it is impossible to know what motivated the sale of these two units and what value they gave, but on the other hand it is good to know that these Viper have found a “home” and can be properly used.

Though never known for its finesse, the Dodge Viper remains one of the most distinctive American sports cars ever, with a strong character. The two-seater coupé (born as a roadster) was characterized by its muscular shapes and huge engine, a kind of exaggerated muscle car.

Underneath its long hood there was never any engine other than a naturally aspirated V10, which started at a “modest” 8.0 liters of capacity and ended its 25-year career, spread over three generations, with 8.4 liters. Also the power was always growing, from 400 hp to 649 hp.
