Ford Focus RS. Goodbye with a special edition of 375 hp, but only in the UK

Anonim

It's the end for the Ford Focus RS — the oval brand announced the end of the “mega hatch” production for the next 6th of April. More than enough reason to give rise to a special farewell edition.

Unfortunately, this Ford Focus RS Heritage Edition — its name — will be limited to just 50 units and the UK. And I mean unfortunately, because this is not just another special edition with cosmetic details.

more power

The big highlight is the integration of Mountune's FPM375 kit, which, as the name implies, boosts power to 375 hp and torque to 510 Nm — 25 hp and 40 Nm more, respectively, than on the regular Focus RS — thanks to the adoption of a new intake system, an improved turbo recirculation valve and a reprogramming of the ECU.

No changes were made to the chassis, with the Quaife self-locking differential and even the Drift Mode being registered.

unique appearance

Moreover, the Ford Focus RS Heritage Edition is distinguished by its appearance. All 50 units — will be the last to be produced with the right-hand drive — will come with the “Tief Orange” (orange) tone which has a special meaning. Not only is it a tribute to the predecessors who sported the RS acronym on the brand, it also relates to cars like the Escort Mexico, where a similar tone was quite popular at the time.

In addition to the vibrant orange hue, the brake calipers come in grey, and the forged wheels in black — the same hue we can find in the mirrors and rear spoiler.

Inside, the Recaro seats, partially covered in leather, stand out and come equipped with a heated steering wheel, tinted windows at the rear, a sunroof, cruise control with speed limiter, among others.

The RS is extremely important to Ford and is recognized across the globe, yet it holds a special place in the hearts of Ford fans in the UK. This latest model is the best RS ever produced and is a deserved tribute as we approach its 50th anniversary.

Will there be a new Focus RS?

The immediate answer is yes, according to Autocar, and it is already being developed by Ford Performance, having the new generation as a basis. But the wait will be long — it's not expected to come until 2019 or 2020.
