It was in 1919 that Citroën was born , the French manufacturer that has stood out throughout its centenary history for its creativity and innovation, without forgetting, of course, comfort. What better reason for a “grand and French” celebration than to reach 100 years of life?

Among the many events that the brand has prepared to celebrate its 100th anniversary, perhaps the most impressive of all was the “Meeting of the Century”, or “Rassemblement du Siècle”, which took thousands of vehicles from its past, present… and even future , to Ferté-Vidame, Eure-et-Loir, France, the location of the manufacturer's historic test track, which saw models such as the 2CV being developed there.

When we talk about thousands of vehicles we are not exaggerating — Citroën gathered 5000 vehicles! “Meeting of the Century”? No doubt.

A unique opportunity to discover not only the models that have marked Citroën's history, but also to socialize with its fans — Diogo came across a Portuguese couple who have a collection of… Citroën C6, the last heir of a noble lineage of large French saloons with the “double chevron” symbol.

Diogo didn't just stop with the exhibition, having had the opportunity to drive the remarkable Traction Avant, better known among us as the “Arrastadeira”, the vehicle that popularized the front-wheel drive; and also the unavoidable and minimalist 2CV, whose production also passed through Portugal and ended here. It was on July 27, 1990 that the last Citroën 2CV produced unit left the Mangualde factory.
