Cold Start. Too much free time? Toyota workers make RAV4 limousine

This one Toyota RAV4 limousine it is still a somewhat bizarre creation, but also intriguing, above all because of its origins.

Contrary to what would be expected, it was not carried out by any specialized preparer, but by the brand's employees.

About 200 employees at the factory in Takaoka, Japan — one of several that make the Toyota RAV4 — dedicated themselves to the unusual project during their spare time. A project that took four months to complete.

To grow the RAV4, they cut it in half, just behind the B pillar, and added a new section to the GA-K (platform) 80 cm long — the RAV4 limousine now measures 5.40 m long, 15 cm more than a long Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

That said, it sounds easy, but the challenge was great. The additional length couldn't compromise structural integrity, so one more pillar was added — no one would want it to warp or, worse, break in half when it got to be used.

We leave a video (in Japanese) where we can see in more detail this unusual RAV4 limousine, from its spacious interior — it even got a table —, and even watching it in motion.
