After a few months we have made known the 35 eligible models for Car of the Year 2020 (or COTY), today we bring you the seven European award finalists.
Created in 1964 by various specialist European media, the Car of the Year is the oldest award in the automotive industry.
In this it is not the brands that register their models, with the list of candidates being made up of models that correspond to a series of criteria established by the regulations.
Therefore, to be eligible the model must be on sale by the end of this year and in at least five European markets. In this year's edition, the jury is composed of 59 members from 23 countries.

After several testing sessions that ended today, the Car of the Year jury reduced the initial list of 35 eligible models to just seven finalists.

Therefore, the candidates to succeed the Jaguar I-Pace as holders of the automobile industry's oldest award are: the BMW 1 Series, the Ford Puma, the Peugeot 208, the Porsche Taycan, the Renault Clio, the Tesla Model 3 and the Toyota Corolla.
As for the winner of the Car of the Year 2020, this will only be known on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, 2 March 2020.
