Renovated Hyundai i30 has arrived in Portugal. All prices

It was a year ago that we got to know the Hyundai i30 of “washed face”, but only now the renewed model of the South Korean brand reaches us – blame the pandemic for the delay.

The restyling carried out focuses precisely on its face, with the new model receiving new headlights (which can be LED), grille and bumpers. New are also the rear bumpers and the rear lights turn the “crusted” revised (can also be LED), with wheels of new design to complete the exterior differences.

Inside, the differences are minor, highlighting the new 7″ and 10.25″ screens (standard, 8″), respectively, the digital instrument panel (standard on the N Line) and the new system of infotainment. New tones for the claddings and redesigned vents complete the differences to what we already knew.

With the launch of the renewed i30, we are now getting to know the structure of the range in the national market. As before, there will be three available bodies: Hatchback, Fastback and Station Wagon.

There are two engines available, one gasoline and one diesel. The first is the 1.0 T-GDI, with 120 hp, while the second is the 1.6 CRDi, with 136 hp, which also becomes semi-hybrid or mild-hybrid (48 V).

Inside, the changes were more discreet.

The mild-hybrid options for the 1.0 T-GDI and the new 1.5 T-GDI (also mild-hybrid) were left out, mainly due to the change in the State Budget in relation to hybrid vehicles (which included mild- hybrid). There was no impediment, however, for this option to be part of the 1.6 CRDi 48 V with 136 hp, with the additional cost to be absorbed by the brand.

The 1.0 T-GDI is available with two transmissions: six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT (dual clutch automatic). The same goes for the 1.6 CRDi, but with the difference that the manual option becomes the new iMT, or intelligent manual transmission from Hyundai. This allows the combustion engine to be decoupled from the transmission when we release the accelerator pedal.

Style and N Line

The range of the renovated Hyundai i30 is further divided into two levels of equipment: Style and N Line, with the latter now being available in all bodyworks for the first time.

The N Line brings a different style — new bumpers that integrate a wider grille —, LED headlights and taillights and the wheels can be of 17″ or 18″ (16″ on the Style). On the outside it can also have an exclusive color: Shadow Gray (shadow grey).

Both come equipped with the obligatory Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which can be wireless. In terms of connectivity, the i30 is now equipped for the first time with Bluelink technology — a free five-year subscription is offered if you choose the navigation system — which gives access to various connectivity services via a smartphone application. Among others we have access to various real-time information (eg traffic), voice recognition and vehicle control functions.

There is also no lack of safety equipment, integrated in the Hyundai Smart Sense package, where we have systems such as Lane Maintenance (LKAS), Front Vehicle Start Alert (LVDA) or Emergency Autonomous Braking (FCA).
