Q2 updated. What's new for Audi's smallest SUV?

It was in 2016 that we got to know the smallest of Ingoldstadt's SUVs. Four years later, the successful Audi Q2 has been refreshed and updated.

On the outside...

… the main differences are concentrated in the new bumpers, with a more expressive design, especially in their lower sections, where Audi designers have given the same polygonal graphic motif that characterizes the model's profile.

At the front, the LED headlamps are also highlighted (standard, LED Matrix as an option) redesigned octagonal front grille, or Singleframe in Audi language, slightly lower and with the insertion of three narrow horizontal openings at its top — only in Advanced and S versions Line — reminiscent of the original Audi Sport quattro.

The new bumpers have made the Audi Q2 grow 20 mm — from 4.19 m to 4.21 m — but the other dimensions remain the same, as does the ground clearance (almost 15 cm).

There are also five new colors — Apple Green, Manhattan Gray, Navarra Blue, Arrow Gray and Turbo Blue — which are combined with the C-pillar variable (the “blade”) which can be black, gray or silver depending on the equipment line. The same happens with the underbody section which can be in black (basic), Manhattan Gray (advanced) and in body color (S line).

Inside…

… the updated Q2 stands out for the presence of redesigned ventilation outlets (still circular), as well as for the new knobs for the manual and automatic gearbox (DSG). There are two interiors to choose from — basic and S Line — each with four associated packages (coverings and colors).

The very optional options available were also grouped by areas (air conditioning, comfort, infotainment, interior, assistants) and are now available as equipment packages. A strategy that Audi will start to apply in all its future models.

If we opt for the MMI navigation plus system (8.3″) we not only have access to the Audi virtual cockpit (12.3″) but, for the first time, we now have access to the connected services of Audi on this model.

… from the hood we will have five engines available, three TFSI (petrol) and two TDI (Diesel). Audi just detailed the 1.5 TFSI with 150 hp and 250 Nm, which will be available with both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG.

The remaining engines will be announced later, but it is to be expected, as we have seen in the most recent launches from the Volkswagen Group, that the 1.6 TDI will be on the way. As now, four-wheel drive will be available on some engines. Audi says this is a new generation of the system, more efficient and around 1 kg lighter.

assistants

The numerous optional driving assistants are also divided into themes: Drive, Safety and Park.

In the Drive package we have adaptive cruise control (in combination with MMI plus, virtual cockpit and DSG). Safety includes several assistants that alert us to the danger of a collision (side and rear cross-traffic assist), as well as Audi's pre sense systems. Finally, at Park, we have the parking assistant that includes a rear camera and can include automatic parking.

When arrives?

The updated Audi Q2 is scheduled to hit the market next November.
