De Tomaso is reborn and the P72 is its flagship

Anonim

In the year that marks the 60th anniversary of its founding, De Tomaso “was reborn from the ashes” and brought its latest model to the Goodwood Festival of Speed (and its first novelty after a few years of complete inactivity), the P72 .

Developed by the same team that created the Apollo Intensa Emozione, the De Tomaso P72 shares its carbon fiber chassis with that model.

Aesthetically, the reborn De Tomaso doesn't hide the inspiration from the past, giving the air of the prototypes that used to run in Le Mans in the 60s and 70s of the last century. It is also possible to find similarities between the Italian model and the De Tomaso Sport 5000 prototype unveiled in 1965.

For now, De Tomaso has not yet released which engine will give life to the P72. Even so, it is easy to see that the engine will be placed in a central position in the rear and it is also expected that it will have a…manual gearbox, something that is confirmed by the images released by the brand.

As for the price of the first model from the reborn De Tomaso, it is around 662,000 pounds (about 738,000 euros), a figure that did not deter the many customers that De Tomaso claims have already bought the model.
