Cold Start. Did you already know the first Suzuki Jimny?

Anonim

The new Jimny was one of the biggest gimmicks at the Suzuki stand in Paris, yet it had a rival to match. Next to the latest jeep of the Japanese brand was his “grandfather”, the first jinny , designated LJ10.

Jimny's grandfather started out as Hope Star ON360 and was launched in 1968. However, Suzuki bought the production rights to Hope Company in 1970 and relaunched the little jeep with a two-cylinder two-stroke engine with 0.3 le 24 hp in place of the old Mitsubishi engine he used. This engine allowed the little Suzuki to be classified as a kei car in the domestic market and benefit from lower taxes.

To keep the dimensions small, the spare tire was… where the rear seats should have been!

THE LJ10 , which looks more like a Jeep that shrunk in the washing machine, had four-wheel drive and reducers. It weighed around 600 kg and reached a fantastic 70 km/h top speed. Despite being tiny, Jimny's grandfather was sold in the United States of America.
