Porsche Panamera renovated. Goodbye Turbo, hello Turbo S, and all prices

Still fresh from having set the record for fastest executive saloon at the Nürburgring, the curtain is lifted on the renewed Porsche Panamera , in the typical mid-career update.

Among the main innovations we have two new versions: a new Turbo S (non-hybrid) and also a new 4S E-Hybrid, which promises more electric autonomy.

Goodbye Turbo, hello Panamera Turbo S

We recall that, until now, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S it was exclusively hybrid — it recalls its ballistic performances — so the appearance of this new Turbo S without being a hybrid is, in fact, a novelty.

Its arrival, however, means the disappearance of the (regular) Panamera Turbo from the range — but we didn't miss out…

The new Porsche Panamera Turbo S guarantees an expressive leap in performance compared to the “renovated” Turbo: another 80 hp of power taken from the 4.0 twin-turbo V8, going from 550 hp to 630 hp . Torque also jumps by 50 Nm, from the 770 Nm of the Turbo to the 820 Nm of the new Turbo S.

The transmission is on all four wheels via the PDK (double eight-speed clutch) gearbox, enabling the new Panamera Turbo S reach 100 km/h in just 3.1s (Sport Plus mode) and 315 km/h top speed.

In addition to the two drive axles, to ensure maximum dynamic efficiency, the new Turbo S is equipped with three-chamber air suspension, the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) and the PDCC Sport (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport). , the active body movement control system that includes the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus).

It was this new Porsche Panamera Turbo S that we recently saw conquer the record for executive saloons at the Nürburgring, having covered the 20.832 km of the circuit in 7min 29.81s , with test pilot Lars Kern at the helm.

Panamera 4S E-Hybrid, uphill range

In addition to the Turbo S, the other big news in the renewed range is the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid , the new and for now only hybrid plug-in variant.

The 4S E-Hybrid marries the 440 hp 2.9 twin-turbo V6 with a 136 hp electric motor integrated into the eight-speed PDK gearbox, resulting in a combined maximum power of 560 hp and a maximum combined torque of 750 Nm. Figures that already give respect: 3.7s at 0-100 km/h and 298 km/h of top speed, with the Pack Sport Chrono, which comes as standard.

Being a plug-in hybrid, there's also good news in the electric chapter. The battery has grown in capacity from the 14.1 kWh of the previous Panamera hybrid variants to the 17.9 kWh.

In conjunction with optimizations made both in the battery cells and in the driving modes for a more efficient use of energy, the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid has a electric autonomy of up to 54 km (WLTP EAER City), 10 km further than the previous one.

GTS, level up

If there is no longer a Turbo, it will be up to the renewed Panamera GTS the role of “intermediary” between the (more) ballistic Turbo S and the regular Panamera. For that, Porsche added 20hp to the twin-turbo V8, with power now being 480hp (maximum torque remains at 620Nm). The 100 km/h is reached in 3.9s and the top speed is 300 km/h.

Also one of the sportiest variants in the range, the revamped and reinforced Panamera GTS comes as standard with the sports exhaust system — no one wants a muzzled V8…

Below the GTS we find the Panamera and Panamera 4 , the regular versions, which remain faithful to the 2.9 twin-turbo V6 of 330 hp and 450 Nm.

And more?

The renovation affected the three bodies of the Panamera: the five-door saloon, the Sport Turismo van and the long Executive version.

Also common to all Panameras are the revisions made to the chassis, with Porsche affirming not only the reinforcement of the sporty character, but also the reinforcement of comfort — two characteristics that don't usually go hand in hand. To achieve this, Porsche reviewed both the action of the PASM and the PDCC Sport, as well as referring to the introduction of “a new generation of steering control and tyres”.

All new Panamera models come as standard with the Sport Design front (previously it was an option), standing out for their generous air intakes and larger side openings, as well as the luminous signature with just one “bar”. Also the rear light strip has been restyled and there are now 10 different models of wheels, with this renewal adding three new models of 20″ and 21″.

The Panamera Turbo S stands out from the rest by having even larger side air intakes and new body color elements, in addition to the luminous signature made up of two “bars”. The Panamera GTS adopt darkened lighting modules to distinguish themselves from the rest.

In the field of connectivity, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) includes new digital functions and improved services, such as voice commands Voice Pilot, wireless Apple CarPlay, among others.
