Morgan prepares electric vehicle for the Geneva Motor Show

The historic British brand's first production electric vehicle is scheduled to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show.

We know that the automobile industry is undergoing a transformation when one of the main brands of the old guard is betting on alternative engines. It looks like Morgan's new 3-wheeler will be all-electric, in what's a snap for a younger, more radical and environmentally concerned audience.

The new model is based on the “Morgan 3-Wheeler” prototype (in the pictures) that participated in last year's Goodwood Festival and weighs just 470kg. The electric motor, developed by the company Potenza, is located at the rear and produces a respectable 75 hp of power and 130 Nm of torque, allowing a top speed of 160 km/h. In terms of autonomy, the brand claims that it is possible to travel more than 240km with just one charge.

According to Morgan design director Jonathan Wells, the new 3-wheel “toy” is inspired by the DeLorean DMC-12 (turned into a time machine) that featured in the movie Back to the Future. Otherwise, the overall look should be identical to the model that was presented at Goodwood last summer.

But let those who think that this vehicle is nothing more than a prototype must be disappointed. The Morgan 3 Wheeler, which will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show, will even reach production next summer, guarantees the British brand.
