Ford Fiesta RS: the ultimate pocket-rocket

Anonim

From the World Rally Championship directly to your garage. Is that the spirit of the Ford Fiesta RS? We hope so…

Ford has just presented the new generation of the Ford Fiesta, a model that seems to have all the conditions to upset rivals in the B segment (read Volkswagen Polo, Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208, Kia Rio, Seat Ibiza, etc.). Despite the various versions presented, one was missing… the RS version!

Thanks to the imagination of X-Tomi Design, we now have a very convincing glimpse of what a hypothetical Ford Fiesta RS might look like.

The “Nitro Blue” colour, the larger wheels, the RS logo on the grille and the more prominent and sporty bumpers make the Ford Fiesta RS a “scale-up” version of the “all-powerful” Focus RS.

NOT TO BE MISSED: This is why we love cars. And thou?

As for the technical specifications, if the Ford Fiesta RS is produced – remember that Ford wants to expand the RS range, so it is very likely that this model will receive the «green light» – we can expect technical specifications that promise to leave the competition miles away distance.

Joe Bakaj, chief engineer at Ford, in statements to Autocar did not rule out the possibility of the Ford Fiesta RS resorting to an all-wheel drive system: “the new Fiesta platform, in general terms, can count on all-wheel drive”. As for the engine, a unit derived from the current 180 hp 1.5 Ecoboost engine is the most likely option. The power may rise from the current 180hp to a more expressive 230hp of power.

The only model in the B-segment that could reach the «heels» of a Ford Fiesta RS with these specifications would be the Audi S1 (also equipped with all-wheel drive and 230 hp of power). It was a great gift from Ford for all pocket-rocket lovers, don't you think?
