Without wanting to offend anyone, it seems to me that some car brands have been contaminated by the virus of absurdism. Does it make any sense to stuff a V12 engine into a Toyota iQ… sorry, Aston Martin Cygnet…?
If Aston Martin's goal is to take the first road car to the moon, then maybe they're on the right track. Yes, because equipping the small 930 kg Cygnet with a 6.0 V12 engine capable of producing more than 500 hp of power, is halfway going to get this townsman flying. I know… What I just said is ridiculous, but believe me it's no more incongruous than this “stunning” idea of the British brand.
There's still no official confirmation from Aston Martin, but where there's smoke, there's fire, and it looks like the brand's engineers have already figured out a possible way to replace the modest 97hp 1.3 with a giant V12. And here I have to congratulate the engineers, because it couldn't have been easy to make this “nightmare” come true.
It is not known for sure the performances that this "pet" will have, but imagine what it would be like for a man to enter an Aston Martin dealership with a MasterCard Black card in his wallet, looking for a powerful and charming sports car and the salesperson after showing a Vanquish V12 shows you a “pinipom” that manages to be faster than almost the rest of the brand's range. How is this gentleman going to buy an Aston Martin?
Dear Aston Martin, please think carefully about what I have just written. No matter how “crazy” there are to buy this pocket missile, they should pay attention to the image they are passing on to the outside world, and believe it or not, Aston Martin is one of the brands I most respect in the automotive world. So, just keep to the naive creation of Cygnet and p.f.f. don't get involved in any more adventures…
