Open-air luxury. This is the new Bentley Continental GT Convertible

Anonim

After showing the world the new generation Continental GT at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley has now decided to unveil the convertible version of its former bestseller (the Bentayga took its place at the top of the sales chart).

The Continental GT Convertible is in almost everything similar to the Continental GT but with one small (big) difference: it doesn't have a roof. In place of the usual roof there is a canvas hood (there are none of those modern hardtops here…) which can be opened in 19s and travels at a speed of up to 48 km/h. Bentley claims that with the use of this hood, it was able to reduce noise in the cabin by 3dB.

The remaining changes in relation to the coupé are very discreet and pass through the rear gate, which loses the retractable spoiler, and there are also differences in the corners over the taillights. Inside everything was the same as the roof version, including the infotainment system with a 12.3″ screen. To help warm up the atmosphere whenever you drive with the top open, the Continental GT Convertible offers heated seats and steering wheel.

Continental GT Convertible numbers

In the transformation from coupé to convertible, the Continental GT gained, as usual, some weight. Thus, the Continental GT Convertible now weighs around 2414 kg (the coupe weighs 2244 kg).

A total of 7 different colors are available for the hood.

In mechanical terms there is nothing new. The Continental GT Convertible uses the same 6.0 l W12 engine used in the coupé and capable of delivering 635 hp and 897 Nm. This comes together with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Despite its high weight, the Continental GT Convertible achieves 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7s and reaches a top speed of 333 km/h.
