Chinese builders copying premium models is nothing new, however, it may be the first time they copy a classic model from a premium builder.
Eagle, a Chinese manufacturer, decided to create a model, the EG6330K, based on the iconic 1955 BMW Isetta.
The brand didn't even hide its inspiration, specifically referring that the Eagle EG6330K was made to look like BMW's microcar. In the presentation photo by the way (highlighted in this article) you can see the new model breaking through a wall, where you can read “1955”, the production date of the BMW Isetta, as references to its origins.
Still, and as expected since times have changed, Eagle removed the front door by adding four conventional doors, and added one more wheel to the rear axle. Curious is the fact that the changes made to the Eagle EG6330K bring it closer to another BMW model, the BMW 600, instead of creating its own identity, although this one also retains the only front door.
The maker Eagle, owned by the company called Suzhou Eagle, became famous when it created a copy of the Porsche Cayman in 2015. Fortunately, the copy of the Porsche sports car never went out of production, but this new model already seems to be. A reality.
The first units of the 100% electric Eagle EG6330K are already circulating, so it should hit the market very soon. It will have an autonomy of about 120 kms , one maximum speed of 60 km/h and weighs only 750 kg.
Unlike the manufacturer's other models, with digital instrumentation, the Eagle EG6330K is completely analog. The electric motor is mounted above the front axle. The hood has two ventilation grills, and the turn signals are built into the bumper that surrounds the front of the model.
The brand says it is the ideal vehicle for young people who move around big cities. Will be?
