Ford Focus RS has a factory defect causing "white smoke"

The news was initially advanced by British Autocar, with the publication revealing that the problem resides only and only in the Focus RS' 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine. Which can record an abnormal consumption of coolant, leading to an unusual emission of white smoke.

The deficiency, already assumed by the oval brand, only affects Ford Focus RS units manufactured in 2016 and 2017, generally with a mileage of around 10 thousand kilometers. Ford also claims to be already "working to fix the problem". Even allowing, according to the same publication, to foresee a repair, not only in the marked units, but in all Focus RS units.

"However, if any customer notices this type of symptoms in their car, they should go to an official dealer for inspection and, if necessary, repair under warranty"

Moreover, Ford will have even replaced some of the engines affected by this problem with new units. The latter are built to the latest specifications.

As for the problem itself, it is related to the refrigeration circuit, which ends up undergoing changes as the heat cycles add up. Situation that ends up preventing a correct sealing of the gasket part, allowing the coolant to flow into the cylinders when the block is cold, resulting in repercussions such as an exaggerated emission of smoke or malfunctions, at least until the block reaches temperature ideal.
