How much have the Portuguese already saved with simple fuels?

The introduction of fuels without additives in filling stations, has already allowed Portuguese consumers to save 168 million euros since the month of April.

The information was released by the National Entity for the Fuel Market (ENMC). According to Filipe Meirinho, director of ENMC, quoted by Jornal i, in seven months (since the entry into force of the law requiring the sale of simple fuels at all service stations) the Portuguese have already saved 168 million euros . A figure that has already surpassed the Government's forecasts, which anticipated annual savings of around 200 million euros – if the trend continues, the savings could reach 288 million euros.

This type of non-additive fuel represents around 86% of the sector's sales and 7.2 billion of the 8.3 billion euros that the oil industry expects to generate. The president of ENMC, Paulo Carmona, stressed that "the consumer has benefited a lot from this commercial aggressiveness and the increase in supply". The price difference between the most basic fuel and the additive (premium) decreased on average from seven to three cents.
