Although last year, and by all appearances, a 250 GTO changed hands for an exorbitant 60 million euros, we did not consider it for the 10 most expensive cars ever, as it was a business celebrated between private parties, with the exorbitant value of lacking information.
As mentioned in the 2018 edition, we only consider transaction values obtained at auction, which are easily verifiable. These auctions are public events, and the transaction values end up serving as a reference to the rest of the market.

The other new addition to this list is an American model, the 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Roadster, which also wins the title of most expensive American car ever.
However, it's impossible to ignore that Ferrari remains the dominant force among the 10 most expensive cars ever, where six of the models carry the rampant horse symbol, with three filling the highest positions on this list.
