The interaction between human and automobile is increasingly complex (and complete) and maybe that's why the Volkswagen ID.4 it has a peculiar and original way of communicating with its occupants: through lights.

Designated ID.Light , this system uses 54 LEDs that extend across the entire width of the dashboard and allow the ID.4 to “talk” to the driver and occupants.

How does it work? Simple. These LEDs adopt various colors, patterns and animations to convey a message.

For example, they move in the direction of navigation instructions, have a specific pattern during loading (which allows you to check their status) and even have a specific animation that not only welcomes you on board the ID.4 but also indicates that we started or stopped the car. Furthermore, when the driver receives a call, they flash green and in case of emergency braking they flash red.

According to Volkswagen, this system not only allows a new and innovative form of communication between the car and its occupants, it also reduces distractions at the wheel.

Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.3 are the first models of the German brand to offer this system as a series. Over time, the brand plans to improve the system through remote updates or over-the-air.
