Ferrari 488 GT Mod. Ferrari's new "toy" for the tracks

Ferrari is particularly busy and after introducing us to the SF90 Spider a few weeks ago, now Maranello's brand has unveiled the Ferrari 488 GT Mod.

Exclusively designed to be used on track, it incorporates technologies developed for the 488 GT3 and 488 GTE, of competition, and can be used not only on track days but also in Ferrari Club Competizioni GT events.

With limited production (although it is not known how many units will be produced), the 488 GT Modificata will initially be sold to customers who have recently participated in the Competizioni GT or Club Competizioni GT.

What's new?

A kind of mix between the 488 GT3 and the 488 GTE that combines the most effective and efficient solutions used by each of them, the 488 GT Modificata is practically all made of carbon fiber, the exception being the aluminum roof.

With a braking system developed in collaboration with Brembo, the Ferrari 488 GT Modificata also features an ABS system identical to the 2020 488 GT3 Evo, albeit with a specific tuning.

As for mechanics, this one uses a twin-turbo V8 with around 700 hp (a higher value than that offered by the 488 GT3 and GTE). To ensure that the increase in power and torque doesn't harm the transmission, it not only received new gear ratios like a carbon fiber clutch.

In the field of aerodynamics, the objective was to send more pressure to the central section of the car, thus allowing to improve downforce at the front without causing more drag. According to Ferrari, at 230 km/h the downforce generated amounts to more than 1000 kg.

Finally, as standard, the Ferrari 488 GT Modificata offers a V-Box that works with the telemetry system from Bosch, a second seat, rear camera and systems that allow monitoring the pressure and temperature of the tires.
