THE DS 3 Crossback has just been launched in our market and represents DS' entry into the compact SUV segment, complementing the larger 7 Crossback.
The French brand says it is not a direct replacement for the DS 3, because they are vehicles of different types, but with a 10-year career and no successor in sight, it would not surprise us that the 3 Crossback would definitively take the place of the DS 3.
Even by the chosen aesthetic options we can see this, where the new proposal of DS Automobiles assumes a distinct style and full of personality, both inside and out, with emphasis on the “fin” on the B pillar… “à la DS 3”.
The "fin" feature
Another point to highlight is the availability, in the last quarter of the year, of a 100% electric variant, the DS 3 E-TENSE Crossback . It will have 136 hp of power, the batteries have a capacity of 50 kWh, which guarantee 320 km of electrical autonomy (WLTP). On a 100 kW fast charger, in 30 minutes you can charge 80% of the battery capacity.
Before E-TENSE, the 3 Crossbacks with combustion engines are already available, whose national range will consist of 19 versions, distributed over five engines and five levels of equipment.
Engines
There are five engines available: three petrol and two diesel. Gasoline, effectively, we have the same 1.2 PureTech of three cylinders, with three power levels: 100 hp, 130 hp and 155 hp . Diesel is also the same unit 1.5 BlueHDI in two variants: 100 hp and 130 hp (available from September).
There are two transmissions available. The first, a six-speed manual gearbox appears associated with 1.2 PureTech 100 and 1.5 BlueHDI 100. The second is a rare one (in the segment) eight-speed automatic transmission (EAT8) which is associated with the 1.2 PureTech 130, 1.2 PureTech 155 and 1.5 BlueHDI 130.
Equipment
There are also five levels of equipment: Be Chic, So Chic, Performance Line and Grand Chic , plus the special release edition La Premiere.
Some of the highlights common to all DS 3 Crosbacks are the door handles built into the body face, a 100% digital instrument panel, the electric parking brake and various safety equipment such as the tire pressure monitoring system, alert active lane crossing and tilt start assistance.
Depending on the version or options chosen, we can also enhance the technological content of the DS 3 Crossback with equipment such as the DS Matrix LED Vision (Full LED headlamps), DS Drive Assist (semi-autonomous level 2 driving), DS Park Pilot (train assistant). parking), DS Smart Access (up to five user profiles)
The level so chic comes standard with parking aid, automatic climate control, leather steering wheel, eight-speaker audio system or 17″ alloy wheels. THE Performance Line, in addition to a specific exterior styling, it features “interlaced basalt” cladding with Alcantara.

At the grand chic wheels grow up to 18″ and are standard equipment such as head-up display, leather upholstery, DS Connect Nav, DS Matrix LED Vision, as well as ADML Proximity (hands-free access and start, which activates the door handles retractable with the approach of the key to less than 1.5 m from the vehicle).

DS 3 Crossback pricing starts at 27 880 euros for the 1.2 PureTech 100 Be Chic and culminate in the 42 360 euros of 1.2 PureTech 155 La Premiére.
