Land Rover gives "new life" to old Defenders

With just over a month to introduce us to the new generation of Defender, Land Rover does not forget its predecessor and original — stopped producing in 2016 —, and unveiled a series of kits intended for copies produced between 1994 and 2016 .

Developed by Land Rover Classic, these kits are based on the “teachings” obtained with the Land Rover Defender Works V8, unveiled on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the brand. These kits include improvements in terms of the engine, suspension, braking system and even the wheels.

How to improve Defender?

Improvements start right away with the rims, which can be upgraded to 18” and installed on any post-1994 model. As for the suspension, the kit is only intended for Defenders from 2007 onwards and includes revised springs, new shock absorbers, new suspension supports and even stabilizer bars to improve comfort on the road.

With these improvements Land Rover tried to increase the road comfort offered by Defender.

Also available is the “Defender Handling Upgrade Kit” which offers all the improvements applied to the Defender Works V8, that is, the same suspension, braking system and even the 18” Sawtooth wheels.

The complete upgrade kit includes custom logos and a tour of the Land Rover Classic facility in Coventry.

Finally, the most complete kit is only for models equipped with the 2.2 TDCi (produced after 2012). In addition to including all the improvements to the dynamic level that we've already mentioned, it also brings new tires and an increase in power of 40 hp (the engine now produces 162 hp and 463 Nm) that allows it to reach 170 km/h of Maximum speed.
