Ken Block presents his new toy, a Ford RS200

Anonim

We usually hear about Ken Block to see the most unbelievable “Gymkhanas” that only he is capable of starring. This time the reason is different. The American pilot received the keys to a new toy for his garage. A Ford RS200.

It is a 1986 model, produced for just two years, between 1984 and 1986, in just 200 units with road approvals. Reason: FIA homologation rules for the legendary Group B rally.

1986 was actually one of the most memorable years of the World Rally Championship, with Ford, Audi, Lancia, Peugeot and Renault signing up teams with models with unprecedented acceleration capabilities, such as the Audi Sport Quattro S1, the Lancia 037 Rally, Lancia Delta S4, Renault 5 Maxi Turbo or Peugeot 205 T16, among others.

Powers ranged between 400 and 600 hp.

The Ford RS200 was fitted with a four-cylinder turbo engine with 1.8 liters and an output of 450 hp at 7500 revolutions per minute. The torque was 500 Nm and it had permanent all-wheel drive, which made it possible to reach 100 km/h in just over 3 seconds. We are talking about a 1986 car.

The RS200 isn't even based on any production model, unlike most other Group B cars. The chassis was developed by Formula 1 engineer Tony Southgate.

Only 24 units

The Ford RS200 is a nightmare!

But the car you can see in the video is even more special, as it is part of a (very) restricted number of 24 cars worldwide , converted to a single-engine version 2.4 liters and 700 hp of power. This is Ken Block's new exclusive toy.

Ken, if you follow Reason Automobile, we hope for a “Gymkhana” with the new toy.
