The new Ford Fiesta promises to be one of the key models for Ford's 2017 strategy. The new generation (in the pictures) was presented today in Cologne, Germany, with new technologies, more evolved engines and a more mature design.

One of the great highlights of the new Fiesta is once again the competent and award-winning 1.0 three-cylinder Ecoboost engine. In this new generation of Ford Fiesta, this engine debuts the possibility of deactivating one of the cylinders – all in the name of efficiency and consumption.

Another new feature of the 2017 Ford Fiesta are the new versions, each with a distinct personality and equipment. For the first time in the Fiesta range there will be a Vignale version (the most luxurious), which will be joined by the ST-Line (more sporty), Titanium (more urban) and Active (more adventurous) versions. The latter with a design inspired by the SUV proposals.

Inside, the big news is the adoption of the SYNC 3 infotainment system that uses an 8-inch touchscreen. The materials and assembly, according to the brand, also improved, being this one of the fields where the development team focused the most.

In the field of safety, emphasis is given to the debut of various driving assistance systems: automatic parking, junction assistant, adaptive cruise control, blind spot sensor, lane maintenance assistant, automatic emergency braking with collision alert, between others.

In terms of powertrains, the new Ford Fiesta will be available with three engines, two petrol and one diesel. The 1.5 TDCI will have two power levels (85 and 120 hp), while the petrol versions will be split between two engines. A 1.1 liter atmospheric three-cylinder (70 and 85 hp) and the well-known 1.0 Ecoboost (100, 125 and 140 hp). The new Ford Fiesta should hit the domestic market in the first quarter of next year.
