After a few weeks ago we made you aware of the renewed Kia Picanto in its version aimed at South Korea, today we bring it already in “euro-spec” mode.
Aesthetically, the news are the same as we already described when presenting the version aimed at the South Korean market.
Therefore, in the esthetic chapter the big news are based on the “X-Line” and “GT-Line” versions.
GT-Line and X-line versions
In both cases, the bumpers were redesigned and the front grille features details in red (GT-Line) or black (X-Line).

In the case of the “GT-Line” variant of the Kia Picanto, the objective was to give it a sportier look. Thus, the bumper has a greater air intake and has details in black gloss.
On the X-Line, we find protective plates, with decorative elements imitating metal with the “X-Line” logo among other details, all to offer a more robust and adventurous look.
Technology on the rise
As we told you the first time we talked about the renovated Kia Picanto, one of the main bets in this renovation was the technological reinforcement.
Therefore, the Picanto now has an 8” screen for the infotainment system and another 4.2” on the instrument panel.
Equipped with the new UVO “Phase II” infotainment system, the Kia Picanto features Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
The 8" screen replaces the previous one which measured 7''.
In the field of safety, as we mentioned, the Picanto will have systems such as blind spot warning, rear collision assistance, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and even driver attention.
And under the hood?
Finally, we come to what is the big difference between the European and South Korean Kia Picanto: the mechanics.
Therefore, in Europe the Kia Picanto will have two new “Smartstream” gasoline engines.
The first, the 1.0 T-GDi delivers 100 hp . The second, atmospheric, also has 1.0 l of capacity and offers 67 hp. Also new is the debut of a five-speed robotic manual gearbox.
With arrival in Europe scheduled for the third quarter of 2020, it is not yet known how much the renovated Kia Picanto will cost in Portugal or when it will be available in our market.
