Jeep Renegade. The first official restyling images

Anonim

Jeep revealed the first images of the re-styled renegade , your most accessible model, even if, for now, they only consist of two images.

What has changed? At the front we can see a newly designed bumper, as well as new front optics. At the rear, the differences are even more subtle, noting only the optics with new filling, despite keeping the characteristic “X” graphic.

The highlight in the renewal of the Jeep Renegade does not pass, therefore, on the style — already quite distinct in itself —, but above all on the adoption of new engines, already in compliance with the most recent norms and protocols.

Jeep debuts new gasoline engines

And it is not significant that it is Jeep — and not Fiat — to debut in Europe the new family of gasoline engines of the FCA group, called Firefly (launched last year in South America), revealing the importance of the brand for the the group's global ambitions.

Renegade 2018 Jeep

It is a new family of modular gasoline engines with three and four cylinders, with two capacities: 1.0 for three cylinders and 1.3 for four . While in South America we are familiar with naturally aspirated variants — and with only two valves per cylinder — the Renegade will debut in Europe the supercharged variants. The 1.0 was announced with 120 hp and the 1.3 declines at two power levels, 150 and 180 hp.

And Diesel?

In the presentation of the brand's strategic plan for 2018-2022, we learned that Jeep, and also the FCA group in general, will progressively abandon diesel engines by the end of 2021, but, at the moment, it is not possible to confirm whether the updated Renegade will dispense with this type of engine or not — a new generation is already confirmed, to appear until 2022, and this one will definitely present several levels of electrification, which will culminate in a 100% electric Jeep Renegade.

The first public appearance of the updated Jeep Renegade takes place today, in Turin, during the Turin Motor Show, so more information should be released soon.
