A model with nearly half a century of existence — here the predecessor was the well-known Samurai —, only the current generation of the Suzuki Jimmy , the third, has already been commercialized for 20 years (production started in 1998).
However, today, already in a phase of clear decline, sold in a decreasing number of markets, the small Japanese jeep is getting ready to give way to a totally new generation. Equally compact and with engines, for the Japanese market, with cylinder capacity below 660 cm3, in order to be able to benefit from the advantages in terms of taxation, attributed to the so-called kei car.
When?
Already caught in some spy photos, the new Suzuki Jimny has just seen, now, released, a date for the official presentation: July 5th . In other words, in less than a month, in a place yet to be unveiled.
Meanwhile, and at the same time that an official date for the “raising the veil” is advanced, new photos have just appeared on the Internet, confirming what the development prototypes already predicted — basically, a compact SUV with admittedly straight lines, to remember the Samurai of the 80's, clearly assuming an offroad image and vocation.
It remains to be seen with which engines, and skills, it will arrive in Europe…
