The last stage before the rest day connects Uyuni and Salta, for a total of 353km.

In the 7th stage of the Dakar 2016, Stéphane Peterhansel and Sébastien Loeb start separated by just 27 seconds in the overall standings, after the less experienced driver in the race suffered from problems with his accelerator in yesterday's stage, handing over the lead to his compatriot.

So far, Peugeot has won all five stages and dominated the three podium positions three times. In addition to the high level of the drivers, the irreproachable proof of the French trio is also the result of the undeniable quality of the Peugeot 2008 DKR16, which you can get to know better here.

Another highlight of yesterday is the fact that the Dutchman Bernhard ten Brinke, winner of the prologue, abandoned the race after his Toyota Hilux ended up in flames a few kilometers from the end of the stage.

On the bikes, Paulo Gonçalves leaves motivated with the aim of ending the first week on a high, but aware that “the toughest thing is yet to come”.
