The last Saab ever found an owner

Anonim

It was in June that we learned that the last car produced at the former facility in Trollhattän, Sweden, to carry the Saab brand, a Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo , was going to be auctioned.

This Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo was part of a last “batch” of 420 Saab produced by NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Sweden), the Chinese consortium that acquired the Swedish manufacturer from GM, between December 2013 and May 2014.

Well, almost half a year later, with the auction held, the last Saab ever to be produced has already found an owner:

This piece of automotive history was completed by Claus Spanggaard, for 465 thousand SEK, the equivalent of 43 652 euros.

The latest Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo itself is as good as new. The odometer has just 66 km, taken on a test track near the factory, where promotional photos were taken. The interior reveals leather seats, and on the outside we can see turbine-shaped wheels, a characteristic Saab theme, which has never forgotten its aeronautical origins.

Like all Saab 9-3s produced by NEVS, this unit distinguishes itself from those of the GM era with its re-styled front and bluish-hued headlamp housing. In common they all came equipped with the 2.0 Turbo block from GM, with 220 hp and front wheel drive.

It was possible to opt for a manual or automatic transmission — the one that this last unit equips — and also for the body color, in black or silver grey.

It is true that Saab has not been produced for five years, but with the auction of the last of the Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo, it seems to us the definitive and appropriate end of the story of this small Swedish manufacturer, who stood out throughout most of the your existence by doing things your way.
