Volvo presented this Wednesday, its vision for the truck of the future. A future that does not require a driver and that bets on autonomous driving technologies to increase the efficiency of road transport.
For Volvo, the future of the truck goes far beyond the vehicle. It involves the integrated management of the fleet through a logistics center capable of automatically controlling routes, loads and other variables that involve road transport.
As for the truck itself, which serves as a technological showcase for the brand, it is called Volvo VERA, uses electric motors and is 100% autonomous.
Is it the end of truck drivers?
Not necessarily. This solution is more a demonstration of technical capacity than a viable project today.

And even if it were already feasible, the brand defends this type of solution only for transports characterized by short distances, large cargo volumes and high delivery precision.
