SEAT Tarraco FR presents itself with new engines and a look to match

Unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the SEAT Tarraco FR now comes to the SEAT range and brings much more than a sportier look.

Starting with what stands out the most, the aesthetic, the new Tarraco FR presents itself with a specific grille with the “FR” logo, an exclusive rear diffuser and also a rear spoiler. The model name, on the other hand, appears in a handwritten letter style that reminds us of the one used by… Porsche.

Also abroad we have 19” wheels (can be 20” as an option). Inside, we find sport seats and steering wheel and a set of specific materials.

Also new are the tactile module (standard on all versions) for climate control and the infotainment system with a 9.2” screen that features the Full Link system (which includes wireless access to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay ) and voice recognition.

Mechanics at height

While novelties in aesthetic terms are not scarce, the same happens when we talk about the engines available for the new SEAT Tarraco FR.

In total, the sportiest of the Tarraco's can be associated with five engines: two Diesel, two petrol and one plug-in hybrid.

The Diesel offer starts with the 2.0 TDI with 150 hp, 340 Nm and six-speed manual transmission or DSG automatic with seven speeds. Above this we find the new 2.0 TDI with 200 hp and 400 Nm (replaces the 2.0 TDI with 190 hp) which is associated with a new seven-speed DSG gearbox with double clutch and is exclusively available with the 4Drive system.

The gasoline offer is based on the 1.5 TSI with 150 hp and 250 Nm which can be coupled to a new six-speed manual transmission or to the DSG seven-speed automatic transmission and the 2.0 TSI with 190 hp and 320 Nm which is exclusively associated with the DSG dual-clutch gearbox and the 4Drive system.

Finally, all that remains is to speak of the unprecedented plug-in hybrid variant, which is assumed to be the most powerful of the entire range.

Scheduled for arrival in 2021, this version “houses” the 1.4 TSI with an electric motor powered by a 13kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The final result is 245 hp and 400Nm of maximum power combined, with this mechanic associated with a six-speed DSG gearbox. In the field of autonomy, the plug-in hybrid Tarraco FR is capable of traveling around 50 km in 100% electric mode.

Ground connections have not been forgotten…

As it could only be a sportier version, the SEAT Tarraco FR has also seen its suspension improved, all to ensure that its behavior matches the initials it bears.

In this way, in addition to a sportier-tailored suspension, the Spanish SUV received progressive power steering and saw the Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) system specifically programmed to offer a greater focus on dynamics.

… and neither does security

Finally, as far as safety systems and driving assistance are concerned, the SEAT Tarraco FR does not leave “credits in the hands of others”.

Thus, as standard we have systems such as Pre-Collision Assist, Adaptive and Predictive Cruise Control, Lane Assist and Front Assist (which includes the detection of bicycles and pedestrians).

These can also be joined by equipment such as the Blind Spot Detector, Signal Recognition System or Traffic Jam Assistant.

For now, SEAT has not disclosed the prices or the expected date for the arrival of the SEAT Tarraco FR on the national market.
