Jeep and Fiat get small crossovers, but Alfa Romeo's awaits approval

After being anticipated several times, the small SUV/crossovers from Jeep and Fiat received the “green light” by Stellantis.

Based on the CMP platform (the same as the Peugeot 208 and 2008, Opel Corsa and Mokka, Citroën C4 and DS3 Crossback), these crossovers will have, from the outset, a “brother” from Alfa Romeo.

However, according to Automotive News Europe, the Alfa Romeo model has not yet been approved by Stellantis. As for the reasons behind this delay, these remain unknown.

It's confirmed, the Jeep Renegade will even have a “little brother”.

what is already known

Both the Jeep and Fiat models (and Alfa Romeo if approved) will be produced at the former FCA (now Stellantis) factory in Tychy, Poland.

According to Automotive News Europe, the Jeep model starts to be produced in November 2022 and the Fiat model in April 2023. The engines, on the other hand, should be the ones we already know from other models that use the CMP platform.

ambitious goals

Starting with the Jeep model, this will be positioned below the Renegade and the production perspective is situated at 110 thousand units/year.

According to Automotive News Europe, this should arrive first with a gasoline engine, followed by the electric version in February 2023 and another mild-hybrid in January 2024.

The Fiat model, on the other hand, will target 130 thousand units/year and should have five doors, basing its style on the Centoventi concept unveiled in Geneva. The electric version is expected to arrive in May 2023 and the mild-hybrid in February 2024.

Fiat Centoventi
The Centoventi will be the inspiration for Fiat's new crossover.

Finally, if the Alfa Romeo model, whose name could be Brennero, is approved, production targets are at 60,000 units/year. If approved, this crossover should begin production in October 2023, starting soon with the electric version.

Later, in March 2024, the front-wheel-drive mild-hybrid version should arrive with the all-wheel-drive version only arriving in July 2024. As you would expect, this all-wheel drive system is also expected to arrive on the Jeep model.

Now it only remains to be seen whether the models that are already produced at the Tychy factory, the Fiat 500 with a combustion engine and the Lancia Ypsilon, will continue to be produced “side by side” with the new SUV/crossover.
