After the defeat against the MINI armada in the Dakar 2015, Peugeot is back in charge with a revised version of last year's model. Get to know the first details of the Peugeot 2008 DKR16.

With the end of the year approaching, the first moves for the 2016 edition of the Dakar begin to appear, the world's premier all-terrain race. After a return below expectations in 2015, Peugeot revamped the 2008 DKR to try once again to dethrone the MINI ALL4 Racing, winner of the last edition of the Dakar.

The French brand continues to believe in last year's formula, and presents itself for the 2016 edition with several improvements on the Peugeot 2008 DKR 2016. These are not extensive improvements, but together they can represent a significant advance in the model's performance.

The Peugeot 2008 DKR 2016 is 200mm wider and 200mm longer compared to its predecessor. Although the dimensions have increased, the total weight of the set has decreased. The front and rear have also been shortened and weight distribution has been rethought to improve stability in difficult terrain. In addition to these changes, the brand also revised the suspensions and equipped the 2008 DKR2016 with new wheels forged in magnesium, lighter and more resistant than the previous ones.

As for the engine, we found again a 3.0 bi-turbo diesel unit capable of developing an estimated maximum power between 340 and 350hp and 800Nm of maximum torque. Traction continues to be delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox. It remains to wait for MINI's reaction to this offensive by the French brand. The cards are laid.
