New toll law gives Opel Mokka X a second chance in Portugal

Anonim

the career of Opel Mokka X in Portugal, until now, it was practically non-existent. A stark contrast to the rest of Europe, where the Mokka X has always been synonymous with huge success, consistently ranked among the best-selling SUVs in its segment — more than 900,000 units have been sold since it launched in 2012.

The reason for such different destinations? Our infamous and peculiar toll law. By being considered Class 2, the Mokka X was automatically doomed on the commercial plane.

But as we reported two months ago, coming changes to the toll law , with Class 1 covering more vehicles as a result of the increase in the maximum height of the bonnet, measured vertically on the front axle from 1.1 m to 1.3 m.

The reformulation of the law will take effect from January 1, 2019, which makes the Opel Mokka X become Class 1, just like its competitors.

Relaunch on two fronts

Opel wasted no time and will relaunch the Mokka X at the end of this October, with a special equipment offer promotion, and the launch of a new “120” version, alluding to the 120 years of the brand that will be celebrated in 2019.

The range will consist of a gasoline engine (1.4 Turbo and 140 hp) and a diesel engine (1.6 CDTI and 136 hp), and also a FlexFuel version, which is, as you say, gasoline and LPG, starting from the 1.4 Turbo already mentioned. To accompany these engines we have a manual and an automatic gearbox, in addition to being able to come with four-wheel drive.

Campaign until December 31st

By the end of the year, Opel will have an “upgrade” campaign in place, where the highest level of equipment “Innovation” will be priced at the “120” version, ie the equivalent of an equipment offer of 2000 euros .

The relaunch of the Opel Mokka X will take place at the same time as that of the Opel Grandland X, which will also be subject to the same promotional “upgrade” formula from the “Edition” to “Innovation”, which is equivalent to an equipment offer of 2400 euros.
