Bugatti Divo. The first deliveries of the "Chiron GT3 RS" have already started

Unveiled in Pebble Beach two years ago, the Bugatti Divo , a kind of Porsche 911 GT3 RS from Bugatti Chiron is now being delivered to its happy owners.

With a production limited to just 40 units, each copy of the Bugatti Divo costs at least five million euros.

Now, at a time when the exclusive hypersports unit starts to be delivered, Bugatti decided to lift the veil a little more on the development of the Divo.

The development of a hyper-sport

Destined to be different from the Chiron and integrating suggestions from Bugatti customers, the Divo was born with a goal: “to be more sporty and agile in curves, but without sacrificing comfort”.

To do this, Bugatti engineers worked in all areas, from chassis to aerodynamics through to the ever-important “diet”.

To tune the chassis and suspension, the Bugatti Divo performed more than 5000 km of dynamic tests. As for the diet, the Divo lost 35 kg compared to the Chiron — a somewhat modest amount, we have to admit...

What has changed in aerodynamics?

The Bugatti Divo is now able to generate 90 kg more downforce than the Chiron, thanks to the design of a new aerodynamic package — at 380 km/h it reaches 456 kg. It is also able to withstand lateral accelerations of up to 1.6g.

Among the aerodynamic differences compared to the Chiron, we find a new active wing, 23% larger, which also functions as an aerodynamic brake; a redesigned rear diffuser; and there's a new roof air intake, as well as other aerodynamic solutions designed to improve the cooling of the huge, powerful W16 and, of course, the brakes.

Finally, as far as mechanics are concerned, this is transposed, unchanged, by Chiron. In other words, the Bugatti Divo uses the W16 8.0 liters and 1500 hp of power.

However, interestingly, the top speed of the Bugatti Divo is “only” 380 km/h compared to the 420 km/h of the Chiron. Optimized for superior cornering performance, and capable of generating greater levels of downforce, it's not surprising it lost top speed, but still, the value is far from modest.
