Profits at Daimler? Bonus for employees

Anonim

Since 1997, Daimler AG shares with its employees in Germany part of the profits earned by the company in the form of a bonus. Called “profit sharing bonus”, this is calculated based on a formula that links the profit earned by the brand before tax with the return obtained from sales.

Given this formula, the approximately 130 thousand employees eligible for this annual bonus will receive up to 4965 euros , a value lower than the 5700 euros delivered last year. And what is the reason for this decrease? Simple, Daimler-Benz's profits in 2018 were lower than those obtained in 2017.

In 2018 Daimler AG achieved a profit of 11.1 billion euros, less than the 14.3 billion euros profit achieved in 2017. According to the brand, this bonus is “an appropriate way of saying thank you ” to employees.

Mercedes-Benz on the rise, Smart on the fall

An important part of Daimler AG's profits in 2018 was due to the good sales results of Mercedes-Benz. With 2 310 185 units sold last year, the star brand saw sales grow 0.9% and reached, for the eighth consecutive year, a sales record.

Our employees have achieved a lot in the past year and have shown a relentless commitment to their daily lives. We want to thank them for their excellent commitment to the profit sharing bonus.

However, if Mercedes-Benz sales were up, the same cannot be said about the numbers achieved by Smart. The brand dedicated to the production of city models saw sales fall 4.6% in 2018, selling only 128,802 units, something that ended up having an impact on the profits achieved by the “mother house”, Daimler AG.
