Alexandre Borges is the big winner of the Guard Racing Days

Organized by the Clube Escape Livre together with the Guarda city council, the Guard Racing Days had in Alexandre Borges its big winner, imposing itself on the competition in a weekend full of strong emotions.

The first day, Saturday, was dedicated to track recognition and free practice, with the fastest drivers covering the 1.5 km stretch (60% on tarmac and 40% on land) in about three minutes.

On Sunday, the real competition took place, with the tests taking place in two heats in which three cars competed at a time, with a starting order of a few seconds apart. At the end of the two heats, the organization gathered the best riders in each category, carrying out two qualifiers and a final.

Evidence (much) disputed

The first semi-final was played between the Rally and Off Road categories, pitting Fernando Peres against Alexandre Borges, with the second conquering a place in the final with a time of 2min49.978s (only 1s less than Fernando Peres' time).

Guard Racing Days
Alexandre Borges was the big winner of the Guarda Racing Days, imposing himself on names like Fernando Peres or Armindo Araújo.

The second semi-final pitted Manuel Correia, in the powerful Mitsubishi Evo, against Armindo Araújo, in Can-Am. However, the Santo Tirso driver was forced to retire with steering problems midway through the track. Thus, the very final featured Manuel Correia and Alexandre Borges, with the second to win the victory.

It was something that Guarda already needed to animate the city, not only motor sport lovers, but all the Guardians and with Clube Escape Livre we achieved this objective. I believe we sowed the seed of a great sporting event for Guarda.

There was also room for classifications by categories, with 12 names standing out: in rallies, Fernando Peres, José Cruz and Hugo Lopes; in all-terrain, Manuel Correia, Rui Sousa and David Spranger; in Off Road and Kartcross Alexandre Borges, Pedro Rabaço and Sérgio Bandeira, and in SSV, Armindo Araújo, Pedro Leal and Pedro Matos Chaves.
