Scheduled for presentation in Geneva, we had early access to the prototype, on the occasion of testing the seven finalists of the Car of the Year, where Francisco Mota was able to see “live and in color” the first chapter of this new era of Peugeot sports models.
The 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered is an evolution of the 508 HYbrid — Find out what our first impressions were behind the wheel . Compared to its “brother”, the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered comes with more power, all-wheel drive and a much sportier look.
On the outside, the differences start with the width, with the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered being wider (24 mm at the front and 12 mm at the rear) than the other 508. In addition, it also has a lowered suspension, larger wheels and brakes. and aesthetic details such as the new grille, an extractor on the rear bumper or carbon fiber mirrors.

Equipped with a version of 200 hp 1.6 PureTech engine (power that was achieved thanks to a larger turbo), the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered has a 110 hp front electric motor and adds another with 200 hp in the rear wheels.

All of this allows the Peugeot prototype to have all-wheel drive and offer the "equivalent to 400 hp in a combustion car" — the final power must lie in the 350 hp.
Despite all this power, Peugeot announces CO2 emission levels of 49 g/km thanks to the hybrid system powered by an 11.8 kWh battery and whose autonomy in electric mode reaches 50 km.

With the adoption of two electric motors, the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered now has all-wheel drive up to 190 km/h , with this system also offering four driving modes: 2WD, Eco, 4WD and Sport.
As for installments, Peugeot advertises a time from 0 to 100 km/h of just 4.3s and a limited top speed of 250 km/h. With benefits of this template, the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered should assume itself as an alternative rival for proposals like the Audi S4, BMW M340i or Mercedes-AMG C 43.
The interior has applications in Alcantara, carbon fiber and sports seats.
Despite still being just a concept car, this more hardcore version of the 508 is, according to Peugeot, a glimpse of what the brand's sports futures will be like, with the brand's CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, stating that “ Electrification provides a wonderful opportunity to develop new driving sensations.”
Despite being presented as a prototype, the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered is destined to reach the market before the year 2020 ends..
