In the normally overcrowded car park at Audi's Neckarsulm factory are thousands of cars. How to find the right models that are waiting for the order? Well, the Ingolstadt brand is testing an ingenious method with the help of… autonomous drones.
It's easy to see why. In a park where you can find Audi A4 Sedans, A5 Cabriolet, A6, A7, A8 and even R8, finding the right models can be a headache and a waste of time.
That's why these autonomous drones proved to be an ingenious method to find these cars.
How it works? Audi autonomous drones fly on pre-defined routes above the car park. They read an RFID (radio frequency identification) code present in cars, store the GPS coordinates of the car's location and then transmit it via Wi-Fi to an operator.

Problem solved? It seems so. Although still in the testing phase, the results achieved so far make Audi intend to expand the use of autonomous drones to more factories.
