Audi has announced that the next Audi A8 will be a completely autonomous vehicle. According to Stefan Moser (Audi's product and technology director) the next Audi A8 will drive better than most human beings.
If you thought that autonomous driving was just a mirage or something far away, you are wrong. Audi says it wants to be a pioneer and is preparing to launch a fully autonomous Audi A8 as early as 2017.

According to Stefan Moser, this autonomous driving system will be better than Man: “don't talk on the phone and don't look at the cute girls”. Audi is putting itself in the race to launch the first completely autonomous car and not even the determination of brands like Volvo seems to dampen this desire.
Legislation must accompany technology
One of the major obstacles to the proliferation of autonomous models is not the technology itself, because it is already at a very advanced level of development. The problem is the current legislation: cars can only use active driving assistance for short periods of time. However, some US states are already positioning themselves to change the law.
Audi A9 anticipates design of next Audi A8
According to Moser, in the Audi A9 concept that will be unveiled this year in Los Angeles, we will get a glimpse of the design of the next Audi A8. The new Audi A8 will be known in 2016, with a world presentation scheduled for 2017.
Asked about any anomalies that may arise, Moser reports that so far there have been no errors during the tests. In addition to the legal battles that lie ahead, problems are also expected for insurers in the event of an accident involving autonomous vehicles.
Stefan Moser also believes that Volvo's “Zero Deaths on Volvo Models 2020” program is achievable. The cost of a self-contained Audi A8 should be significantly higher than that of a “normal” Audi A8.
