Renault remains committed to dynamic testing of the new Megane E-Tech Electric , which despite having its premiere date set for the next 6th of September, at the Munich Motor Show, has just been “hunted” to measure forces with a Volkswagen ID.4.
Anticipated in 2020 by the Mégane eVision prototype, this production model was presented to the public three months ago, even though it is dressed in a dense camouflage, the same one shown in these spy photos that we show you here as a national exclusive.
At that time, Renault had already announced that it would build 30 pre-production models of the MéganE, as it is also known, and that they would be driven on the open road during the summer by a team of brand engineers.
Now, one of these units has been “caught” while being compared to a competing proposal, the Volkswagen ID.4, and has not gone unnoticed.
The camouflage, inspired by the French brand's logo, does a good job hiding the general shapes of this tram, which displays a very torn luminous signature, huge air intakes at the front, retractable door handles and the new Renault logo, with generous dimensions.
As for the interior, it remains in the “secret of the gods”, but a minimalist cabin with a wide range of technology is expected.
Already confirmed by Renault is the fact that this Mégane E-Tech Electric is based on the same platform as its Japanese “cousin”, the Nissan Ariya, the CMF-EV.
The French manufacturer also confirmed that the MéganE will have a battery with 60 kWh capacity and 160 kW (218 hp) of power, which should guarantee a range of up to 450 km (WLTP cycle).
Built at the French factory in Douai, France, the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric will begin production in 2021 and will make its commercial debut in 2022.
