SpaceNomad and Hippie Caviar Hotel. Renault Trafic in caravan mode

Anonim

Described by Renault as "essential" after a period of successive lockdowns (confinements) due to the pandemic, motorhomes Trafic SpaceNomad and Trafic Hippie Caviar Hotel concept are the two most recent additions to this type of vehicle.

Both are scheduled to appear at the Düsseldorf Motor Show, but only Renault Trafic SpaceNomad is ready to hit the market. After a period of “experience” in which it was made available in Switzerland, Renault is now preparing to launch it in 2022 in five more countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France and Germany.

Available in two lengths (5080 mm or 5480 mm), the Trafic SpaceNomad can have four or five seats and has a range of Diesel engines whose power ranges from 110 hp to 170 hp associated with manual or automatic gearboxes (on engines of 150 and 170 hp).

A “house on wheels”

Obviously, the main point of interest of this Trafic SpaceNomad is its ability to function as a “house on wheels” and for that it doesn't lack arguments. For starters, the roof tent and the rear seat that converts into a bed can accommodate up to four people.

In addition, the Gallic proposal also has a fully equipped kitchen, featuring a fridge with 49 liters of capacity, a sink with running water and a stove.

Completing Trafic SpaceNomad's offer we also find an externally mounted shower, LED interior lights, a 2000 W heater, an induction smartphone charger and, of course, an 8” infotainment system compatible with Android Auto systems and Apple CarPlay.

Inspiration from the past, focus on the future

While the Trafic SpaceNomad is ready for the market, the Renault Trafic Hippie Caviar Hotel concept shows what the motorhomes of the future can be.

Fully electric, this prototype is based on the future Trafic EV and was inspired by the iconic Renault Estafette, aiming to offer an “experience worthy of a five-star hotel”.

For now, Renault has kept its secrecy about the electrical mechanics that equip this prototype, opting instead to focus on the amenities offered by Trafic Hippie Caviar Hotel.

To start with, we have a cabin that looks more like a lounge with an extendable bed and finishes capable of causing the envy of some hotel rooms.

In addition, the prototype is accompanied by a “logistic container” in which there is not only a bathroom and shower but also a charging station. As for the food of travelers, Renault projected that this would be ensured through food deliveries made using… drones.
