BMW M counterattacks. 11 new models until 2021

There is no time to breathe. Even when it comes to, perhaps, the biggest instigator in the creation of high-performance variants of its models, and also the most desired. BMW M's rivals have never been stronger or more capable — look at the galloping evolution of Mercedes-AMG, for example. And new suitors for the crown emerge, such as the resurgence of Alfa Romeo with the Quadrifoglios.

We have to fight back. And that is precisely what we will see from the BMW M. A counterattack that has already started this year and promises not to slow down in the next ones.

This year alone it has presented the M8 Grand Coupe Concept, which will have a corresponding production model; the M2 Competition, which takes the place of the M2; and, recently, the M5 Competition, which complements the M5 we already know.

what's next

If it already seems like more activity for BMW's competition division, the pace will only tend to increase in the coming years. This is because in addition to the predictable successors of the M3, M4, X5M and X6M, we will have more models with the desired letter, some of them new.

Among them, the BMW X3M, which we'll get to know this year, justified by the commercial success of the biggest X5M and X6M — perhaps the most controversial M ever. Also, the announcement of the new 8 Series last year — will be presented this month, replacing the 6 Series and moving up in positioning — will also mean three new M in one seat: coupé, convertible and four-door coupé .

In addition to the new models, the novelties in M extend to engines. A new inline six-cylinder will debut with the X3M, and there is talk of the M3 emerging as a semi-hybrid.

Over the next three years, there will be no shortage of points of interest at the BMW M. Discover the 11 new features provided for in the highlighted gallery.
