The final unveiling of the new ID.Buzz is expected soon, with commercialization planned for 2022 and is the first ID. to be made available both as a passenger vehicle and a cargo vehicle — the spy photos we published last June already showed it.

What to expect from ID.Buzz?
This contemporary reinterpretation of the Type 2, the “Pão de Forma”, in addition to taking on the role of MPV and commercial vehicle (with various configurations provided for in number of seats), will also have an additional, longer bodywork, although we just have to see it. in 2023.
Like all ID. that we know so far, also ID.Buzz will be based on MEB, the specific platform for electric vehicles of the Volkswagen Group, which shows how versatile it is, serving as a basis for both a small family and the ID.3 to a commercial vehicle. medium dimension as will be one of the versions of ID.Buzz.
As with its "brothers", several batteries will be available, ranging from 48 kWh to 111 kWh, the latter being the largest ever to be fitted to a MEB-based model. The autonomy is estimated to reach up to 550 km (WLTP). As already confirmed before, we can equip the ID.Buzz with solar panels that will give up to 15 km of autonomy.
For the first time we also get a glimpse of the interior, which shows many similarities to the other IDs.
It will be launched, first, with just one electric motor mounted at the rear (everything indicates that it has 150 kW or 204 hp), but it is expected that it will also have variants with two engines and all-wheel drive.
ID.Buzz, the robot taxi
In addition to the surprise appearance during the presentation of the ID.5, it was recently again "caught" in spy photos, but this time as one of the test prototypes for the future fleet of robot taxis already announced by Volkswagen.
Volkswagen wants to launch its first fleet of robot taxis in 2025, in the city of Munich, Germany and the ID.Buzz was the vehicle chosen for this mission.
When you arrive, you will have the ability to reach level 4 in autonomous driving, that is, it will be considered a fully autonomous vehicle, but which can still be driven by one person (it will still have a steering wheel and pedals).
The test prototype is quite «artillated» on its exterior, as we can see in these spy photos, with numerous equipment necessary for autonomous driving. The technology itself is being developed by Argo AI, a company that has not only the Volkswagen Group as an investor, but also Ford.
The stand-alone ID.Buzz apparatus is great, where we can see several LIDAR and other sensors positioned on the outside of this test prototype.
The ID.Buzz taxi-robots, however, will be placed at the service of Moia, the mobility brand of the German giant, as happens today with some Transporters converted for this purpose.
