Mercedes AMG S63: luxury and ostentation 130 years later

It's called “Edition 130” and it's the latest version of the Mercedes-AMG S63, which celebrates the German cabriolet heritage at the Detroit Motor Show.

The first automobiles by Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler were open-air vehicles. For this reason, Mercedes-AMG decided to honor the founding fathers of the German house with this cabriolet.

At first glance, this Mercedes-AMG S63 looks just like any other cabriolet in the S range. However, its special “Alubeam silver” paint finish, carbon components, bourdeaux upholstery and the matte black of the 20-inch wheels make this four-seat open-top a special edition. So special that production is limited to 130 units.

Like the outside, the changes inside are subtle. On an exclusive basis, it is possible to order this Mercedes-AMG S63 with leather upholstery in three color types: Bengal Red, Black or Crystal Gray. And the exceptionality does not stop there. Every Mercedes-AMG S63 is labeled inside with the designation “Edition 130 – 1 of 130” (see pictures), and so on. In addition, when handing over the keys to customers, they will receive a “Welcome Pack”, with a very special delivery of the key, inside an aluminum box.

Under the bonnet there are no big surprises. A 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 engine is enough to make 'a sparkle' from 0 to 100 km in 3.9 seconds. The electronically limited top speed is fixed at 250km/h.
