One more PIN to decorate. Tesla enters personal code to drive

Called "PIN to Drive", this new security device aims, according to the American brand, to reinforce the defense of Tesla models against possible situations of theft or improper access to cars.

The new security system will prevent anyone from starting the car or driving around before entering the owner's personal PIN on the infotainment system's screen.

The vehicle owner can, however, change this code at any time by accessing the control or security system menus in the car itself.

Entering or changing the PIN promises to be an easy process for the Model S owner. At least if it depends on the size of the screen.

The new technology does not imply, on the other hand, the obligation of the vehicle owner to pass an official dealership, as it is part of one of the many updates Tesla makes available via wireless.

In the case of the Model S, the “PIN to Drive” is part of the updates made available by Tesla for the key cryptography system, while, in the Model X, it integrates the standard technology.

Unlike the Model S, the Tesla Model X will feature the “PIN to Drive” system as part of the standard equipment.

Although for now only available in these two models, the “PIN to Drive” should also be part, in the future, of the technological compendium of the Model 3.
